Working Through the List
Well, it sure was great to be back to “normal” today. I got a lot of things crossed off my to-do list. This morning I shopped the meat sales at my favorite grocery store for meat. I love Aldi for many things, but it doesn’t have much of a meat selection.
I also stripped the guest bed, washed and dried all the guest linens, and remade the bed:
It’s all ready for our next guest now. So when are you coming? I even ironed all the pillowcases!
I also did some other ironing, selected a few more things to send to the thrift store, and sent Jasper with a carload of stuff to drop off there. And put away my own laundry after doing more ironing.
Walter was gone most of the day doing yardwork for the former president of the university. He held up pretty well, but was tired by the time he came home.
I finished composing our newsletter and it will be going to the mission for printing tomorrow—so watch your mailbox if you’re on our mailing list. I relisted some stuff for sale and picked out a couple more things that I can sell. I think next weekend is going to have to be the time for my big book sale. It’s going to be so hot. But it seems like there’s been something going on every other weekend.
This evening was supposed to be the monthly get-together for our retired homeschool moms group. I sent out reminders last week and last night. At the appointed time, I drove to the Jalapeño Tree and waited. Three ladies had already said they weren’t coming. While I waited, I was entertained by the restaurant’s new hostess:
The manager is very proud of her robot. I watched it guide several people to their tables.
After twenty minutes, I had to assume no one else was coming, and I didn’t want to eat by myself, so I drove home and threw together some eggs and bacon and joined the guys for supper. It was kind of disappointing. Maybe that monthly dinner idea has run its course.
Tomorrow we have an outdoor outing planned. It’ll be hot, but at least not as hot as next week, when we are expecting triple digit temperatures.
Joy Spark:
My orange rose in the back yard is blooming. By which I mean, it has a bloom.
