Victory!
Yes, today was Day 3 of the van repair saga. But first, before Walter got all sweaty, we drove to an office where a friend of ours works. He had sent in a generous donation to our outgoing fund, and we thought it would be fun to go thank him in person, since we rarely see him.
We got there and his office was closed. No one was there. So I will call ahead before our next attempt. Since he owns the business, I suppose he can close it whenever he wants.
After that, Walter got back to work on the van, and I made a decision. For a couple of weeks now, I’ve been working on three major photo projects. It’s been very slow because of only being able to restore 3 photos per day. This morning, I learned I can get a whole month of ChatGPT for free. So guess what I’ve been doing all day? Scanning and then uploading one photo a time for restoration.
It has been very tedious and time-consuming. However, I got through about 50 photos today. And some of them have been so much fun to see restored.
The funniest one was this:
This is a photo of my future husband completely covered in mud after a spectacular dismount from a bucking bronco at our college rodeo. The original was very dark, and the AI did a pretty good job of lightening it up a little bit. But it referred to the photo as a “concert” photo and to Walter as “the performer!” Haha.
So that was pretty much my whole day. Working on photos. By suppertime, Walter had the van operational again. Hallelujah! I’m sure he is very relieved.

My family in Heidelberg in 1977. Nobody was having a good hair day.

This formerly fuzzy photo of us when we were dating turned out surprisingly well.
