So many times over the last week or so, I have asked myself, “how badly do I want this?” All the time I’ve spent on the phone being transferred from one person to another, all the ridiculous forms I’ve had to fill out has just been so stressful. An unbelievable amount of hassle just to sign up to audit one class.
I didn’t get everything finally done until yesterday afternoon. It’s partly my fault because I didn’t even start the process until after New Year’s. I had thought of taking a similar class at a local junior college, but it wasn’t offered this semester, and Walter was the one who remembered that the university would be offering it this semester. The class I’m taking is Introduction to Photography.
Now I’ve taken photography before—back in 1976. But I figure things have changed quite a bit with the advent of digital photography, so I’m ready to up my game, especially in light of our travel plans for this year. I can already tell there will be a lot of review for me, but that’s great! After 49 years a review is very welcome.
I kind of wanted to run an errand today, but I couldn’t because when I came home from Robin’s yesterday, I had a flat tire. Grrr. Apparently I ran over a screw somewhere. Walter has now put the spare on so I’ll have use of the car tomorrow and then he’ll take the tire in to be fixed after he gets off work, I think.
Fortunately, I didn’t need a vehicle to go to my class, as it’s within easy walking distance. I got there really early, because I wasn’t sure how long it would take to walk and I wanted to be sure to find the right classroom. For a while there I was beginning to think that I’d be the only female in the class, as 10 guys came in after me. Just like the old days. When I was a student at this same university over 40 years ago, I was often the only girl in a class. The ratio back then was 12 to 1. Now it’s only 3 to 1.
Anyway, some girls did show up and we had our class. The professor is very distractable and rewards every comment or answer he likes by throwing candy at the speaker. I scored a mini Snickers bar to bring home to Walter.
I think I will enjoy the class, though, and am sorry I am going to have to miss some classes due to travel.
As I walked home, I encountered my neighbor Kathy, accompanied by her daughter Bethany and her two adorable little girls. I was delighted to see them. I’ve known Bethany since she was a very young girl, but am not sure I’d seen her since her wedding.
Parting Shot:
I couldn’t resist.
Great Photo. Good Luck with your REVIEW.
Have fun in school, Linda! My daughter Ev took the photography class last year and learned some good tips. It’s not a deep class, but helpful, like you’re looking for.
