Posing
Saturdays don’t feel quite as special when every day is kind of like Saturday. Jasper went off to his yard job and I scurried around the kitchen shredding ham, grating cheese, slicing bread, and various other tasks involved in creating our favorite breakfast casserole. We normally have it for Christmas and Easter, but on Easter this year we had something else.
However, I had bought all the ingredients for the casserole, so I thought we’d have breakfast for dinner tonight. But it had to be assembled first thing this morning since normally I assemble it the night before and leave it in the fridge all night.
So basically, supper was pretty much taken care of by 8:00 this morning. Then I could have my tea and breakfast and do my Bible reading.
Then I worked on getting some stuff organized and stored away. I also took photos and spent considerable time listing stuff for sale. It’s not a big money maker, but it gets stuff out of the house.
I had to have the casserole in the oven by 4:00 this afternoon, because supper got pushed up to 5:00. While the casserole baked, I made dessert.
The girls arrived a little after 5:00 but it still worked out fine. They were a little skeptical of the casserole but ended up thinking it was okay. They loved the dessert, however—cake and pudding.
The reason we had to eat so early was because Walter and I had an appointment. One of the things we need to do in order to get things moving is to have a prayer card made, in hopes that people will pray for us as we prepare to go to Zambia. Now I have become quite skilled at selfies, but for this I wanted something a little better.
I happen to have a former student who has a photography degree and is working on getting her photography business off the ground, so I asked if she’d be willing to do a quick and easy photo shoot for our prayer card picture, and she graciously said yes.
She wanted to meet at 6:45 because that is a good time for the light. She had chosen a nicely-landscaped location near our local convention center. We got there before her, and were treated to quite a show. Apparently tonight was prom night for a local high school, and quite a few of them had descended on the same location to get photos taken in their prom finery. We saw some very bright dresses and some very revealing dresses and a few that were classy and beautiful.
Katherine and her mother arrived and we waited our turn to pose in front of the large flowering shrub. I figured since we’d be photographed in front of bright flowers, we should not wear color ourselves, so Walter wore a grey shirt and I wore a black shirt with a black and white duster. I hardly ever wear this duster, because it was given to me by one of my estranged daughters, and I kind of want it to last forever. It’s tangible evidence that she once loved me.
After Katherine finished taking her pictures, I had her mom take a photo of us with Katherine:
If you’re local, and looking for a photographer, you can find her at https://www.facebook.com/kate.jaxon
And yes, you’ll get to see the photo we choose once she gets them back to us.
Since we had such an early supper, and the photo shoot didn’t take long, we decided to watch a movie tonight. I almost knitted an entire dishcloth.

Two of our backyard roses are doing well, The one in the middle apparently didn’t get the memo about the blooming schedule.
