Meet Betty
Yesterday we went to church and Sunday School as usual. We had a visitor in our Sunday School class—a university student from Brazil! I wonder what made him decide to hang out with a bunch of old folks. Walter and I enjoyed talking to him afterward.
During our afternoon Zoom, it was just Flynn and his family, but they provided plenty of entertainment. Paisley recently did very well on a test at school, and she explained it’s because her brain got bigger.
Later in the evening I had another Zoom with my dad and brothers. My dad is recovering well and is finally starting to feel better. One of my brothers asked me to help him find our old home in Zambia on Google maps, and I think we all enjoyed checking out the satellite view and identifying our house and the other buildings on the property. So many memories. And of course, I could give them relatively recent updates as well.
This morning started with my usual Monday morning chore of portioning out all my meds and supplements for the week. Then I had time to finish my Bible reading before Kim came over. I’m so thankful to be in the New Testament!
I had a good visit with Kim. She is a kind and sympathetic friend, and I appreciate so much. We both have had plenty of heartache over the last few years. I love having her across the street. We text each other when there’s a pretty sunset! Her front window faces west, so she sometimes sees it before me, even though my computer chair is next to a west window also.
This afternoon we drove up to Lowe’s so Walter could get the last little thing he needs for the dollhouse. Then we continued to the nursery where we picked out a “cheap” tulip tree. Every spring we try to buy one new thing for the yard, and this year we came home with Betty:
They had two varieties of these deciduous magnolias—Ann and Betty. I liked Betty a little better so we brought her home, and as you can see she’s already chilling out in our back yard, thanks to Walter. While I was in the back yard admiring Betty, I noticed that we have hundreds of tiny flowers blooming in the grass. Like violets:
And wild onions:
And whatever these are:
Jasper also finished painting and clear-coating my chair, so my “new” blue throne is now in the back as well.
It looks so much better than it did! And the cushion is nice and comfy also.
Joy Spark: Yesterday’s was these tulips at the church:
Today’s was chatting for a while online with a very dear friend who moved away several years ago.
Parting Shot:
Coming attractions! The first few azalea blooms on the south side of the house.
