Halfway In
Can you believe the year is already half over? Right now, we have no idea what the second half of this year is going to look like. We hope it ends in Zambia!
This morning Walter did a second round on campus to see people he hadn’t seen yesterday. He acquired some more addresses for me to add to the newsletter list.
Meanwhile, after making the first part of tonight’s dessert, I got going on the first of my new sewing projects, only to realize I needed bias tape, so Jasper and I went to Walmart. The craft section is a lot smaller than it used to be, but they did have the bias tape I wanted, which saved me a trip to Hobby Lobby.
I spent the afternoon sewing, reading, making the rest of tonight’s dessert, and getting the dining room whipped into shape for a company dinner. We kind of let it slide a little if it’s just us and Joanna.
Our friend Lee arrived just about when supper was ready. He comes every year to teach science camps at the university, so every summer we have him over for dinner.
We had more pork ribs for supper, with rice and stir-fried green beans and coleslaw. Poor Walter couldn’t have the ribs or the rice. I thawed some plain pork roast for him to have. He has to go without caffeine and carbs until after his PET scan tomorrow.
We had a nice visit with Lee:
And of course, as always, I sent him home to his motorhome with a bag full of molasses spice cookies.
One thing I’m doing this week is testing a new pen. I have recently tried to make a habit of carrying a tiny notebook in my handbag so I can write stuff down before I have a chance to forget it. There is so much to keep track of right now. Anyway, I wanted a pen that I could clip to the notebook but all the pens I had were too long. So I found this short stubby pen on Amazon:
It’s a Tinsync Mini Pocket Pen with a 0.5 mm point. I didn’t think I’d like it because the barrel is so fat, but it’s actually super comfortable. After only two days I’ve decided I really like it. I may have to get more to take to Zambia . . .
Tomorrow: a morning appointment and an afternoon PET scan for Walter. Time to get the thermos out again. I will need tea.
Joy Spark: Finally getting going on a sewing project. Hoping to finish it tomorrow so I can do another one before the weekend.
