Five More Days
I spent most of the morning working on a photo book with family photos I can take to show friends in Zambia. Unfortunately, Walgreens had trouble printing it and it still isn’t ready. If they can’t sort out the problem with their printer I’ll have to try again at a different Walgreens.
This afternoon I did some packing and am encouraged by the result. I think we will have room for everything. What I worry about now is that our cases will be over the weight limit, so there will be a lot of weighing in the next few days. I am a very good packer, but even I am a little surprised at how much I’ve been able to fit in. There are still some bulky/heavy items remaining, however.
Later in the afternoon I drove up to Robin’s to return her sewing machine and have a cup of tea. That was a nice little break.
I came home to do some research and more packing. The last of Walter’s clothing items should be arriving tomorrow so I hope by tomorrow evening we’ll have a pretty good idea of what all we can take and how much it will weigh. Taking an extra suitcase is an option if both of ours are overweight, but I hope it doesn’t come to that.
This morning I had a moment of unexpected joy. I had to take my measurements—quite a lot of them—for a project that is still a secret at this point. BUT, when I did, I discovered that I now have a waist. I might have had one six years ago, when I weighed what I do now, but I probably was afraid to measure. Today I had to, and I couldn’t get over it. For most of my adult life my waist has been larger than both my bust and my hips. Now it is smaller—by a little. That is a big, big win.
Tomorrow morning I’ll be getting up a little earlier to go to a cardiologist appointment. Hoping that goes well, because one way or another I’m going to Africa!
Parting Shot:
So far the zinnias are taller than the okra. I doubt Jasper will keep up with the okra when and if it ever starts producing.
