Once again, this morning I had the oven turned on shortly after 7:00 because I needed it for part of tonight’s dessert, and I wanted to be done with that before the house heated up too much. So I got the dessert made before I even thought about having tea or breakfast.
Then I went back to work on photos—the deadline is approaching. And I started to have some computer problems, so I turned it off and went back in the kitchen to chop onions and brown some ground beef.
Frankly I’m a little disappointed in our very expensive, more powerful new central air conditioning. It is not keeping up in these blistering hot days. The west side of the house does not get cooler than the mid-80s until well after sunset. And that’s the side of the house where I do everything.
We had invited Nathan and his girlfriend Elianna to join us for supper tonight. We were looking forward to a full table until Cianna texted me to say that she’s been sick all week and wasn’t up to coming. So it was just Nathan and Elianna and Joanna. We had an enjoyable visit over supper and heard all about Nathan and Elianna’s trip to Zambia this summer. Elianna really enjoyed meeting Nathan’s family and friends there.
After supper Nathan played a game of pool with Joanna, and then Walter taught Elianna to play.
I think they had a pretty good time. And they all enjoyed the lemon dessert I had made.
Joy Spark: A big hug from Joanna when she came over this evening. She’s a hugger, unlike Cianna, who is very reserved.
Parting Shot:
Found this photo of Walter with one of our first parakeets. His current bird is not this friendly!
