A Time Mix-Up
This morning Walter and Jasper were busy getting ready to go to their job while I was getting ready to go to Aldi. The weather was very cloudy but it wasn’t supposed to rain.
I made it up to Aldi and was relieved to see my homeless friend back in his usual place. I made sure to buy some corned beef so we can have our St. Patrick’s Day dinner early. We’ll be traveling on the actual day.
By the time I walked out of Aldi, it was sprinkling, and by the time I got the car started, it was raining steadily. I gloomily anticipated having to unload the car in the pouring rain. However, when I got down to our side of town (the unfashionable south side), the streets were dry and there was no sign of rain. Whew!
I have to admit I missed having the guys here because they normally haul in the groceries and help put them away, and today I had to do it all myself. I survived!
And then my friend Marsha texted me to tell me she wasn’t coming after all, because she got the days mixed up. This did not surprise me. She has never been good with time. Many years ago, she told us the wrong time to come to her own son’s wedding. We worked so hard on getting ready and getting our young children scrubbed and into their Sunday clothes, then arrived at the wedding just as the wedding party was exiting the church. Oops. So anyway, we set up a different time next week and hopefully that will work.
Then, while having my afternoon meal, I inflicted a strange injury on myself. I was eating some meat that had a crispy edge, and a little piece apparently got stuck in my throat. It was very painful. I tried to wash it down with water and kefir and I think I succeeded, but by then my throat had been badly scraped, so right now eating and drinking are both quite painful. I hope it gets much better overnight.
The guys were back by midafternoon and very eager for some tea. And then my hardworking husband went back out and mowed both the front and back yards! I think that is the first time this year that he has needed to mow.
I went outside and found these tiny yellow flowers in the front yard (before he mowed):
And the first few blooms on my magic azaleas that bloom multiple times a year:
This evening I mixed up a batch of chai mix even though there hasn’t been much interest. It’s always good to have some on hand. And tomorrow we’re supposed to have rain!
Joy Spark (and parting shot):
Our first rosebud of the year.
